2017 should be a big year for Thunderbolt 3 and USB-C storage devices and Lacie is getting an early jump on the action with a pair of new product launches at CES.First up is a new USB-C version of the company’s Rugged Thunderbolt drive. The new drives will be sold in 2TB, 4TB and 5TB HDD versions and 500GB and 1TB SSD models with prices starting at $250.If you spring for the 1TB SSD Rugged drive, you’ll get transfer speeds up to 510MB/s — a 30 percent boost from the previous SSD model.  At that pace, Seagate says you can move 100GB worth of files in about three minutes.Lacie’s d2 line of external drives will also be updated to support Thunderbolt 3 and USB C. The drives feature Seagate BarraCuda PRO 7200RPM discs and will be sold in capacities of 6, 8 and 10TB with prices starting at $430.They feature a pair of Thunderbolt 3 ports so you can daisy chain other Thunderbolt devices. You’ll also be able to power a laptop through the d2’s USB-C port.
