Humphrey Bird-Man McCarthy

If you’ve happened by Battery Park on occasion when bouncing around New York you might have run into “Humphry Bird-Man McCarthy.” I caught him on this day when there weren’t many folks between him and the camera. I switched from the wide-angle to the 70-200 and cranked the shutter speed up to a thousand very quickly while he still had some crackers left. He seemed to be in his own little world listening to his iPod while the seagulls, sometimes as many as eight or ten, swarmed around him to get a bite to eat. Humphry seemed to be the only one around feeding that morning so he got a ton of attention.
